Stone-on-steel: isolation, washer stack, and what to put on the print

When stone cladding meets a steel subframe, the RFQ is about isolation and washer stack as much as the fastener itself — not a screws→bolts→nuts warehouse SKU. Lock the isolation callout, stack order, and the notes that must appear on the print before any unit price is useful.

Define · what this RFQ is for

Use this guide when natural stone or panel cladding fixes to steel (or mixed steel/aluminum) and the detail needs isolation against staining, galvanic notes, or soft-face pressure. You own corrosion design and engineer sign-off; we confirm fastener grade/finish plus the isolation / washer stack against the print and quantity band.

When the bracket also mixes slots and round holes, pair with cladding bracket RFQ (G5). For structural class bolts on the steel side, see structural bolt class & coating (G8). Then open Enquire / RFQ.

Discuss · fields that change the quote

Each row below is a desk check. Missing rows stay Open — we do not invent pad brands, certificates, or plant metrics on this site.

Copy into RFQ notes
  1. Isolation material Nylon, EPDM, or a buyer-named pad/gasket. Brand stays buyer-side or Open on this public page — we do not invent a product name to fill the quote.
    • Email example: Isolation: buyer-named EPDM pad per project list; thickness 2 mm
    • If missing: call out or Open
  2. Washer stack order Under head / under nut; hard washer vs soft face. Wrong order can crush the isolation or leave steel-to-stone contact.
    • Email example: Stack: flange → isolation → stone/bracket → hard washer → nut
    • If missing: mark on BOM
  3. Fastener grade / finish Must match environment and the isolation choice (e.g. stainless into coated steel with pad). Prefer A2 / A4 or coated carbon when the print locks it.
    • Email example: Finish band: A4 + isolation pad (coastal note)
  4. Diameter × length Isolation and washer thickness change grip. Write the stack-up; do not quote length from a shelf chart alone.
    • Email example: M10 × 40 after 2 mm pad + 2 mm washer pack (Rev C)
    • If stack unknown: Open
  5. Print notes required The detail should show isolation callout and any snug / torque limit so site does not over-crush the pad. Use drawing handoff to lock the revision.
    • Email example: Print note: isolation pad mandatory; snug-tight only — no impact driver
  6. Qty band & use Discussion band is enough for the first reply: mock-up panel set or project lot.
    • Email example: Qty band: mock-up 100 sets → project lot TBD

What must appear on the print

  • Isolation material callout (buyer-named or clearly Open)
  • Washer stack order at the stone / steel interface
  • Snug / torque limit if the pad can crush
  • Controlling revision — see drawing handoff

Agree · before we number

Until the following are aligned, treat any figure as discussion only:

  • Controlling revision shows isolation (or explicitly marks Open)
  • Pad brand remains buyer-named or Open — not invented on this page
  • If slots/holes also apply, G5 fields are settled in the same thread or linked
  • Samples, packing, and private-label marking only after diameter × length (04) is clear

We do not invent ISO, CE, IATF, plant area, or ranking badges here. Project documents that matter to the RFQ are shared privately when relevant.
