Undercut stone anchor RFQ: panel thickness, kerf, and edge distance

An undercut-style stone anchor enquiry is not a generic “stone screw” shelf SKU. Before a number is useful, lock three geometry fields against the controlling detail: panel thickness, kerf / undercut shape, and edge distance to the panel edge. This page is a buyer desk for stone cladding and soffit nodes — not a stainless screws→bolts→nuts catalog.

Define · what this RFQ is for

Use this guide when the print calls an undercut or similar rear-fixing stone anchor into a natural stone panel or soffit, fixing into concrete backup, steel frame, or a rainscreen subframe. You still own substrate engineering and structural sign-off; we confirm fastener fields against the print and quantity band.

Pair with the load-path primer (name substrate · load · node), the RFQ checklist, and drawing handoff when a section detail exists. Then open Enquire / RFQ.

Each row below is a desk check. Missing rows stay Open — we do not invent grades, certificates, or plant metrics on this site.

Copy into RFQ notes
  1. Panel thickness (mm) Sets embedment and undercut depth band. Typical façade granite / limestone panels often sit in a 20–30 mm band; thicker cladding or soffit slabs may run higher — write the actual thickness from the print, not a catalog guess.
    • Email example: Panel thickness: 25 mm granite (Rev B node S-12)
    • If missing: Open — no final price
  2. Kerf / undercut geometry Slot or undercut width, undercut diameter, and depth measured from the rear face. Prefer a dimensioned section on the controlling detail over a verbal “undercut type” alone.
    • Email example: Undercut: Ø12 mm, depth 12 mm from rear face; kerf width per detail S-12
    • If missing: ask for section detail or marked sketch
  3. Edge distance Distance from anchor axis to the panel edge (and to adjacent holes when known). Edge distance drives blow-out risk and whether the node is even viable for the thickness you stated.
    • Email example: Edge distance: 50 mm to panel edge; 80 mm between anchors (sketch marked)
    • If missing: mark on print or photo — Open until noted
  4. Material / finish band Environment note in buyer words: coastal, urban pollution, interior soffit, etc. Prefer A2 / A4 or coated carbon when the print or project note locks it; leave blank rather than inventing a grade online.
    • Email example: Finish band: A4 preferred (coastal note on project brief); confirm on RFQ
  5. Qty band & use Discussion band is enough for the first reply: samples, mock-up panel set, or project lot. Target use or buyer standard note belongs here when you have it.
    • Email example: Qty band: mock-up 40 pcs → project lot TBD after sample approval

Thickness examples (illustrative bands, not a catalog)

These bands are common starting points in buyer conversations; your print overrides them:

  • ~20–30 mm — many façade stone panels; undercut depth and edge distance must still come from the detail.
  • ~30–40 mm+ — thicker cladding or some soffit slabs; confirm kerf and embedment on the section, not by scaling a thinner node.
  • Unknown — state Open and attach a photo of the edge with a scale if no drawing yet.

Agree · before we number

Until the following are aligned, treat any figure as discussion only:

  • Controlling revision on the node detail (see drawing handoff)
  • Dry undercut mechanical vs chemical / bonded path — if resin or sleeve is buyer-specified, say so; do not assume a brand on this site
  • Samples, packing, and private-label marking only after node fields 01–03 are clear

We do not invent ISO, CE, IATF, plant area, or ranking badges here. Project documents that matter to the RFQ are shared privately when relevant.
